Wine Type: Pinot Noir
Name: Crossbarn by Paul Hobbs
Retail: $30
Tasting notes: This is similar to Carmel Road in that it is a full bodied and heavier pinot noir; however, with a much richer profile and smoother finish. It is good to drink by itself but pairs very well with steak and lamb. This is a great way to taste Paul Hobbs wine at a lower price point.
Cheese partner: Pairs well with a creamy textured cheese. Our recommendation would be to pair with an Italian taleggio.
Wine Type: Pinot Noir
Name: Flowers
Retail: $49.99
Tasting notes: This is a pinot noir on the lighter side. It is still full bodied but not as heavy as the Carmel Road or Crossbarn. We find that this pinot pairs nicely with chicken or fish rather than red meat. Also good on it’s own but a great first bottle to get the night started.
Cheese partner: Jon recommends a manchengo or with Cypress Grove’s midnight moon. Both are medium textured cheese with more potent flavor which the more mild wild wine will help to balance.
Overall recommendation: You can’t go wrong with either but the Crossbarn is one of our favorites for its flavor, versatility, and delivery at only $30.
