For the second half of our Maine trip we made our way south from Bar Harbor through Freeport we spent a day (I promised Jon just an hour or two) checking out the LL Bean outlet store before checking into our glamping destination in Kennebunkport.

It is worth the stop, even with COVID, the lines weren’t too long and social distancing was being enforced but the stores were great. I grabbed a new jacket for the fall, which would end up being great even in Kennebunkport for the cool summer nights as all the dining was outside.

We also loved the LL Bean home store and grabbed a few throws and even some dog toys for Weston and Goldie (who would be arriving when we got home from the trip.

After the LL Bean store in Feeport we made our way to Kennebunkport where we checked in for the second half of our stay into the Sandy Pines campground. It was a really interesting camprground that was divided into different sections based on lodging. Some families showed up in RV’s, others wanted traditional tent camping, there were canvas tents of varying sizes, unique rentals like covered wagons but we opted for one of the glamping cabins that came with a king size bed and AC!  Funny enough the nights were cool enough that A/C wasn’t a must but it was a nice to have. It was a bike ride to the nearby Goose Rocks Beach and a 10 minute drive into downtown Kennebunkport. We ended up going to some other beaches in Kennebunkport but Goose Rocks was a nice beach to go for a walk on during low tides in the morning.

The town of Kennebunkport was charming with a lot of good dining options, even with COVID. Though we both agreed that while perhaps more fine dining was easier to

find in Kennebunkport than Bar Harbor and the seafood was fantastic in both we felt the seafood, especially the oysters in Bar

Harbor were by the far the best we had the whole trip. Honestly though the oysters anywhere in Maine are going to be fantastic.

Towards the end of our time in Kennebunkport we needed a break from the beach and with a cloudy day we thought it would be fun to head up to Portland and take a tour. It was a great way to get to see the city, learn some of its history and get some good eats. Portland is known for its restaurants and for a small city it didn’t disappoint. We had a private tour with Pete from Portland Walking Tours and opted for the “Beyond the Old Port” tour.

The one thing we wish we had done was make reservations for some more dinners up in Portland but we

chalked it up to “next time”. We ended our trip with a dinner and my new favorite drink, a Maine blueberry vodka lemonade, at the Nonantum restaurant that is part of the resort of the same name. We sat outside overlooking the ocean and cheers to a great trip!

Maine was fantastic and we will be back!
