Finding a great wine at a great price is always our goal when wine shopping. Anyone can spend a lot of money on wine but finding that sweet spot where you feel like you’ve gotten a great deal and truly enjoy the wine is the best. Enter our all time favorite pinot noir, Carmel Road. By all time I mean we started drinking this back before we were married in 2009 when it was being sold for $12/bottle. This wine has really caught on apparently because now it costs $17/bottle (retail) but still packs that great punch of a heavier pinot noir with hints of sea salt and cherries.  This one is definitely Pinofection!

Another great option if you’re looking for something other than a pinot noir (which is rare in this household) would be the Anderson Valley Vineyards. This is a cabernet produced in the Anderson Valley of California and retails for $18.99/bottle. The Anderson valley is an up and coming AVA just north of Napa valley. Similar to a Napa cabarnet it is full-bodied cab with an overload of tanin’s. It is overloaded with berry flavors and spices with a smooth finish. If you like a dry cab this is your option for under $20. This goes well with any red meat but especially well with any of your fattier cuts like a good rib-eye. It drinks like a much more expensive wine but at this price point you won’t be disappointed.
